Liz Spitzer
Instructor
Elizabeth Spitzer has worked as a certified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructor since 2017, enjoying sessions of training the public, college staff, corporate staff, faith-based community leaders and many nonprofit organizations. Liz also is a certified instructor for the QPR suicide-prevention program, a certified facilitator for The Compassionate Listening Project, a professionally trained life coach and a trained equity-informed conflict mediator. Moreover, she is co-owner of Expressive Connections, a small business that “supports people who work to build a friendlier, more resilient world.”
Liz enjoys working within ma company’s multi-talented instructor team, because she has observed the passion and purpose driving ma company and seeks to serve alongside other mission-driven individuals. She hopes to help spread awareness about the upsides of mental health, empower people to feel more comfortable about discussing their own experiences and assist them as they practice learning to be more at ease in listening to others who may need mental or emotional support.
While attending Bismarck (N.D.) State College and Portland Community College, Liz concentrated on courses in psychology and plans soon to complete her studies in organizational psychology. Outside of her work, Liz enjoys public speaking, hosting workshops and volunteering for her local National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) office, where she leads a 20-week class for inmates of Clackamas County Corrections outside of Portland, Oregon. She is an active member of Toastmasters International and serves as her club’s president, the organization’s area director and soon a division director. She lives near Portland.
